How to run the dojang
한국어Dojang is a management sim where you run a dojang and meet three challengers a day. This page states the exact math the game uses.
What kind of game is it
In Dojang, winning is not the job. Each challenger wants something, and your job is to give it to them.
Three people visit each day. On the same day everyone meets the same three.
There are no random numbers. The same choice always gives the same result.
The board runs on this device. When the day ends, only that day's reputation goes to the shared ranking service.
The four wants
Each challenger's want is shown on screen. How well you meet it is their joy, from 0 to 100.
- Close match: The match must stay tight. The nearer the summed gap over the rounds is to 0, the higher the joy. If they lose but stayed close, they get 8 more.
- Comeback: The side that led must change by the end. A change gives 78, otherwise 28. If the challenger turns it around and wins, they get 16 more.
- See techniques: Show more Counter and Lock down. The base is 18, and each round using those two moves adds 10. Each extra different move adds 26, so repeating one move scores low.
- Clear loss: The challenger must lose so they learn the gap. If they win, joy is 12. If they lose, joy is the gap times 26.
The four moves
You pick one move each round. The screen shows who leads that round and by how much.
- Head-on: You lead by a lot. A higher challenger skill shrinks your lead.
- Ease off: The challenger leads by a lot. A higher skill makes the lead bigger.
- Counter: The challenger's skill comes straight back. At skill 6 or less you lead. At 7 or more they lead.
- Lock down: The round is locked. You lead slightly, and skill barely moves it.
Rounds and the training hall
Each person gets three rounds by default. Every training hall level adds one round.
The gap in the last round counts 1.4 times. The finish decides the match.
After the first round you can see the lead so far and the closeness.
Joy and reputation
A joy of 60 or more counts as a satisfied person.
Your daily reputation is the average of the three joys. That value goes to the leaderboard.
After all three leave, each person gets one line saying why.
Coins and building
You start with 60 coins. Daily income is 60 percent of each joy, rounded, added up.
With spectator seats, each satisfied person adds the seat level times 14 coins.
- Training hall: Up to level 2, costing 120 and 340. Each level adds one round.
- Spectator seats: Up to level 3, costing 90, 240 and 520.
- Infirmary and signboard: Not used by the game yet. Upgrading changes nothing, so they are locked.
Hints and the leaderboard
The hint button names the move that best meets the challenger's want in this round. It checks every remaining round to choose.
You get five free hints a day. With a subscription there is no limit.
A run that used hints is marked as assisted on the leaderboard.
You play one board a day. After you meet all three, the dojang closes and that day's reputation goes to the leaderboard.
If you leave midway, progress is not saved and you start that day's board again. There is no streak.
Under the home board, Past boards opens the last 14 days as practice. Practice does not count for coins or the leaderboard.
